So one of the things the nurses monitor is how many "spells" Maggie has. A "spell" is when Maggie's heart rate drops to a very low level, or her oxygen rate dips, or she has a bit of apnea. She typically only has a few spells, and she usually recovers on her own without the nurses intervening. Well the other night she was spelling pretty frequently and the nurses were doing all they usually do, but she didn't stop spelling until after they turned the radio from David Allan Boucher's Bed Time Magic on Magic 106.7 to WBCN 104.1 "The Rock of Boston". It seems not everyone enjoys the sweet melodious sounds of David Allan Boucher.
Just a quick meds update they have decided against the ambizone, and will keep Maggie on the difoucan because the ambizone is not compatible with the heperin which is in her IV. So her meds now look like this:
Maggie's Current Meds (as always, please excuse spelling)
difoucan - for fungal infection
ventimycin - for NEC
gentimycin - for NEC
caffeine - for memory/breathing
vitamin A - Dose 10 of 12 on Monday
This Week:
Eye Exam - possibly Wednesday
Neurologist visit - possibly today
Transfusion - today

Sounds like she already has an ear for annoying DJs! Can I request an update on her weight? She looks like she is definitely getting bigger in the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe David Allan Boucher is still on! I vaguely remember that we had a running joke about him, Sue, like 20 years ago in middle school. Is it still the same DAB, or do you think they bring in another "bedtime magic voice" every few years and keep calling him DAB? Like the Dread Pirate Roberts... Anyway, good taste, Maggie!! And keep fighting that infection!
