Maggie is doing great today. She has been struggling a bit with the CPAP (Continuous Positive Air Pressure) tube so she may need a breathing tube inserted in her throat again. This was to be expected, as someone Maggie's age can get tired of the CPAP, this may also be a result of all the testing and blood work they have done on her. Maggie will also be receiving a splint of sorts for her right arm. Her arm was bruised in the delivery so they think she may have strained the ligaments. I am just waiting for her Uncle Jay to start in with the "spaghetti arm" jokes that he has used on me all these years for my allegedly weak throwing arm.
We are very confident in the team treating Maggie. The NICU staff has been amazing, and they have been keeping us informed, if not overly informed the entire time. I am not saying Maggie is getting preferential treatment, but Maggie is one of the few girls on the floor and I think the nurses like that.
Maggie is a bit of a wild child. She is constantly flailing her arms and legs and shaking them as if she is dancing.
