Brown Eyed Girl

Maggie's eyes finally opened today which is great news. Now Sue tells me that all babies are born with blue eyes before they change to their permanent color, so I could be jumping the gun with my brown eye proclamation. But here's the thing, I have brown eyes, and Sue has brown eyes, so Maggie will have brown eyes. I could lecture you on why this is due to dominant vs recessive genes, but my 10th grade biology teacher Mr. Donovan would prefer that I not.

In other news, the acid levels have evened out so no more sodium bicarbonate which is awesome. The only thing they are actively treating Maggie for now is that she has a vessel (PDA?) that isn't closing on its own so they are treating it with ibuprofen to close it. We should know on Tuesday whether or not this was successful. Her oxygen levels are great despite this vessel not being closed.

Also the PICC line went in, third time's a charm. This means she has no more tubes in her stomach which is great. She also has shown a lot more range of motion in her right arm.

Probably the least important thing that happened today was that Maggie heard the first hand account of the 2004 ALCS courtesy of yours truly, sorry Yankees' fans, you still lose. For total full discretion, I downplayed Manny's role in the entire thing.

All in all today was a good day, which is the perfect follow up to yesterday's hurdle.
