You may remember a few months back, my award winning post, "Bon Jovi Rules!!!!!!!", well here is the sequel to that awesome piece of writing. Now as Maggie is just out of the NICU, we don't want her to have to go back to the hospital anytime soon, and we've been given some guidelines by the nurses and doctors to follow.
- While we'd love Maggie to meet all her little buddies who are currently in Day Care or at School, it's looking like this is a no-no at least until RSV season is over. But hey, this is why there is texting and emails. Maybe join some groups in Facebook?
- Not so fast, non-day carers and non-schoolies, your interaction will be limited as well. While she is not in a bubble, you might as well pretend she is. Just think it will help with your Mime classes.
- If you have the sniffles, a cough or anything resembling a cold, you can't see Maggie.
- While Maggie has been packing on pounds, and we may seem tired, we'll be restricting who can and can't hold her in the beginning.
- Speaking of tired, same rules apply no calls between 9pm and 9am, we need our sleep.
- Can't say this enough, wash your hands. Sure you may not believe in Purell, but we do so humor us.
- Please call if you are planning to stop by, sure pop in visits are always a nice surprise, but Maggie is a pretty busy girl. She'll be making a couple of trips a week to the pediatrician, having physical therapy treatments, follow ups at Childrens' etc, if you don't plan ahead you may miss her.
I know the rules are a downer, and I am sure some of you have children and have done things differently, but honestly as we have learned in the past 150 plus days is that Maggie hasn't had the advantages of most babies and she needs to do some catch up with building anti-bodies, lung development, eating, etc. And for Maggie to thrive at home these are the rules that have been set forth for us. So please bear with us the next few months.
Thanks in advance:
Maggie, Phil & Sue
I go away for ONE weekend and don't check your blog for 3 days and MAGGIE GOES HOME?!?!?!?!?! That's so great, I am thrilled that your whole little family is all under one roof where you belong.
ReplyDeleteAnd props on the rules above. Be strong. You are Maggie's advocates and those rules are a must.
Eliza looks forward to meeting Maggie in the spring of 2010 after RSV and H1N1 and whatever else is out there now has run it's course.
I agree with Meghan - great rules!
ReplyDeleteAnd I loooooooooooove Purell!
Julia is way understanding of the need to wait to meet Maggie. She's decided that it's a good excuse to get ready for next year's bathing suit season to impress Maggie. Maybe she'll even potty train to lose the diaper butt! :)
