Hurricane Irene Left a Tree in Our Yard

Yard before storm. Tree can be seen far right of picture.

Yard after tree has fallen. Those are not overgrown bushes behind the flag pole. That is a gigantic tree.

View from our window. We can normally see straight to our neighbor's sunroom.

The view from the roots and that's our house on the right.

You can see the trunk divides into three parts and that there is a tree underneath it.

I know we mainly post about our family, but I figured I would also share some pictures of the gigantic tree that Hurricane Irene blew from the yard behind us into our and our next door neighbor's yard. Pretty much, it was a 50+ yr old tree which was easily 60+ feet high (it towered over our house), and now looks like overgrown shrubbery in our yard. The tree also took down a cedar tree. The amazing part of this all, no one nor house was hurt. Had the winds blown in another direction, we may not have a sunroom... but for now, we just have smooshed rhododendron bushes.
